Additional notes by Spider_Web:

This specific show, although not uncommon, is taken from the WMMS Cleveland master reel to reel with verified lineage, not from a bootleg or radio broadcast. As the text file says, no equalization or sound manipulation has been done to this recording - the original recorded sound is what you get. I'm sure many folks may already have the show in some form or another; hopefully this will be some sort of upgrade.

I certainly don't claim to be a Springsteen aficionado; I'm educated on most of his music and have a small sampling of his live shows. I know there are many rabid Boss collectors out there who want proper docmentation on all Springsteen recordings. So before some of you come at me with questions such as "when did you get this copy", "when was it transferred", "how did it come about" etc... please read on.

A trading partner of mine back in the early 2000's knew a guy who had access to a bunch of the WMMS Cleveland reel to reel recordings. The reel was carefully recorded directly to stand-alone CDR, a copy was made for my trading partner, and he in turn made a copy for me.

There is much speculation that Bruce played a longer set than what is presented here, and that WMMS edited the reel down for broadcast. I don't know the answer to that, but I can tell you that the reel to reel tape that was sitting in the WMMS archive in 2001 contained exactly what I have shared. Does another reel exist with more music on it? If so, was it destroyed? Could this reel actually be a 1st generation reel that was edited down from the full reel? Or is this all that was actually taped and/or played? Those questions are still mysteries, but the only reel in the WMMS archive in 2001 is what you have here.

Enjoy folks!
