Lineage:
Sonic Solutions DSM-6 -> Sonic Mod-2 -> Sony D7 DAT -> Fostek studio CD recorder -> nero 6 copy -> CD-Rs ripped to FLAC by dbPoweramp -> Levels/fades done in Adobe Audition -> ffp and FLAC files verified by Traders Little Helper -> MD5 generated by mkwtools.

Frequncy response graphic included for the lossy posse. Remember this is a solo acoustic show, so there's not going to be as much energy above 10Khz.

Notes from info file:

Anyone who knows Aplay knows his big four - The Who, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. He has traveled far and wide in his pursuit of the ultimate shows.

I've had the pleasure to tag along on a couple of occassions. The night we taped Dylan at the Cameo Theater on South Beach when security pushed us aside to drag out a taper standing 3 feet in front of us. Eric's last show at the old Miami Arena (no mishaps there).

As collectors far and wide have come to appreciate, an Aplay show is something to covet. He's a great taper, having started way back when he stood at the No Nukes concert holding up a small cassette recorder for 5 hours to record the show.

For all his great recordings, Aplay is not a techical wizard by any means. Many times I have stood with him in his living room, D7 connected to the Fostek by it's optical cable, show playing through the magnificent Earl and Clyde (the monsterous Martin-Logan speakers), Aplay punching in the time codes to separate the tracks. That's right, he does this all manually in real time. Damn good at it too. Very seldom have I had to fix a track break. As soon as the CD was done I'd ran to the PC to clone my copy.

I remember when he called me up telling me about this great show he recorded at the Hard Rock the night before. I had passed on going. Even though I'm a huge Springsteen fan myself I've never gotten excited about his solo stuff.

"Where's mine?" came my usual response. And the next day it was in my hot little hands. Copy #1. I listened to it a few times and then it slowly dissappeared into the ever growing pile that has become my current collection.

A couple of weeks ago Aplay called me asking could I find my copy of this show. "Sure, I'm digging through this stuff now". HA! Took me two weeks and several boxes (I recently moved and my collection is 1000+ DVDs averaging 5 shows each). Late last night, there it appeared as I slogged through another of the endless spindles of DVDs. Some day I've got to catalog this stuff so I can find things without it becoming an expedition. So I emailed Aplay that what was lost was now found and that I'd post it in the AM.

So here it is, basically untouched for your listening enjoyment. I made a couple of minor level adjustments at the beginning where he fiddled with the knobs and added fade ins and out to the discs. The Fostek don't do that.

Don't thank me, thank Aplay for this gem. Bruce was in a really good mood this night because his lifelong buddies Little Stephen and Clarence were there.

Aplay responded to my email, reminding me that I had posted this on Dime the night I came over to pick up my discs, so this is a requested reseed for the dime gang. I've searched the other trackers for references to Springsteen, Hard Rock and Aplay. Nada. Nothing. Bubkus. Zilch. Apologies ahead of time if I'm duplicating or stepping on anyone's toes.

BTW, I'm trying to get Aplay to learn how to use Trader's Little Helper so he only has to use one program to do everything to post a show. Every time I do it for him he wanders off to get another Diet Pepsi and/or watch the Mets on TV. Someday I'll get him there. If he ever learns how and we get the 100Mbs service ATT/Hellsouth keeps threating us with - look out! His collection is the envy of all who know him and once he gets going he'll be a terror. He also has a disk drive farm of external USB drives holding treasures untold. As do many of us. Let's hear it for cheap terrabytes.

So, my brothers and sisters in arms, enjoy, share, MP3 if you dare!

Tapers notes:

If memory serves correct, was taped from approx 13th row, right center orchestra. It was an exceptional show. Amazing what 1 man can do onstage with a variety of instruments. Didn't hurt at all when Clarence and Steve joined the fun. This tour had so much life and spirit compared to the Tom Joad tour. I hope he does another like this. Enjoy. Aplay.
