This, the second night of the so-called “Lawsuit Tour”, found Bruce and the band blocked from recording with Landau due to pending litigation. The show still has the energy of the Born To Run tour but is yet to have the intense broody and sullen feel of the ’77 shows due to the lawsuit dragging on into the new year. It features the Miami Horns Quartet #2 (actually a Philadelphia based foursome) on a smattering of songs, do they ever sound good on this capture (see sample) and an updated version “The Promise” returns with different lyrics. The low gen tapes (likely 2nd) in Dan’s archives were simply a pleasure to master, the taper did an excellent job capturing the complete proceedings with no cuts and no unnecessary audience participation. There is a touch of hiss on the quieter songs due to the normal bias tapes but the trade off to cut the hiss is not worth the flattening out the frequencies, no noise reduction is ever applied. We believe you will find this a strong material upgrade to the existing versions. Once again, thanks go out to a number of folks that helped put me in touch with Dan, their assistance and passion for Bruce and getting this music in your hands continues to be invaluable...IvannF, EarlMv, Oats1jvo as well as E from JEMS for the use of the NAK DR-1. The biggest thanks go to Dan for making his archives available for us all to enjoy...feel free to show your appreciation in the comments. mjk5510
