There are a couple of versions of the Recorder 1 source that currently circulates, Winged Wheel released it as "Killers In The Sun" and a re-master of that boot titled " Isn't Canada A Long Ways From Here". The best version of this show is JEMS release of Jared's master tape. This Recorder 2 source is an overall very good capture but does not upgrade Jared's capture. The one advantage is it has almost no crowd noise. It's recorded relatively close to the stage but the passage of time created some necessary repairs. Parts of the show are excellent and other parts are less than excellent. A few patches from Recorder 1 makes this one 100% complete. There had been some question whether "Because The Night" was played or was missing from Jared's tape, one thing this source does do for us is confirm that "Because The Night" was not played after being played at the previous 39 shows. Most likely cut due to time after including three great covers. What inspired Bruce to put on what can only be considered a Top 5 performance for this tour? One theory is it's Bob Seger's doing. Seger was performing in Clarkston, MI the previous night and knowing Bruce would be attending it's said he put on an especially inspired performance. In turn, Bruce pulled out all the stops the following night in Saginaw. I don't believe a second recorder source was known to exist before now and I was surprised to find an alternate for this show, especially since Dan and Jared ran in the same taping circle back in the day I assumed Dan's copy of this show would be Jared's capture. Jared's capture gets the quality nod for this particular night but we are fortunate Dan harbored an alternate capture for almost forty years giving us another perspective for this fantastic show. Thanks to the usual suspects, you know them well by now...IvannF, EarlMv, Oats1jvo and Butterking of JEMS. None of this could happen without each and every one of these folks. The biggest thanks go to Dan for making his archives available for us all to enjoy... mjk5510 Previous DS Archives Releases: Volume 01: Bruce Springsteen 1980-10-11 Chicago, IL (1st Gen) Volume 02: Bruce Springsteen 1975-09-21 Minneapolis, MN (2nd Gen) Volume 03: Bruce Springsteen 1975-08-01 Richmond, VA (Low Gen) Volume 04: Bruce Springsteen 1975-09-16 Dallas, TX (Low Gen) Volume 05: Bruce Springsteen 1975-09-16 Dallas, TX (Recorder 2) Volume 06: Bruce Springsteen 1975-11-01 Santa Barbara, CA (2nd Gen) Volume 07: Bruce Springsteen 1975-10-04 Detroit, MI (1st Gen Aud Un-circulated) Volume 08: Bruce Springsteen 1975-12-05 Washington DC (Low Gen, presumed 2nd) Volume 09: Bruce Springsteen 1975-07-25 Kutztown, PA (Low Gen) Volume 10: Bruce Springsteen 1978-05-24 Albany, NY (Recorder 2) Volume 11: Bruce Springsteen 1975-12-21 Toronto, ON (Low Gen) Volume 12: Bruce Springsteen 1976-09-29 Santa Monica, CA (Low Gen) Volume 13: Bruce Springsteen 1976-09-30 Santa Monica, CA (Low Gen) Volume 14: Bruce Springsteen 1976-10-25 Philadelphia (Recorder 2) Volume 15: Bruce Springsteen 1977-03-13 Towson, MD (Recorder 3) Volume 16: Bruce Springsteen 1978-05-27 Philadelphia (Recorder 2) Volume 17: Bruce Springsteen 1978-06-03 Uniondale, NY (Recorder 4) Volume 18: Bruce Springsteen 1978-05-23 Buffalo, NY (Low Gen Recorder 1) Volume 19: Bruce Springsteen 1978-06-08 Madison, WI (Recorder 2) Volume 20: Bruce Springsteen 1978-06-30 Berkeley, CA (Low Gen) Volume 21: Bruce Springsteen 1978-09-17 New York City, NY (Complete Audience) Volume 22: Bruce Springsteen 1978-07-29 St. Petersburg, FL (Recorder 2) Volume 23: Bruce Springsteen 1978-07-05 Los Angeles, CA (Recorder 3) Volume 24: Bruce Springsteen 1978-08-14 Hampton, VA (Recorder 2)
