Audience recorded tape. Excellent quality, excellent show, on the front end of "The River" tour. 2 hours, 54 minutes concert with complete "I Hear A Train" ending to "The Detroit Medley" which ended abruptly in the first release of this set. The shows became greater than 3 hours later in the tour. This concert at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis comes from early on in the second leg of "The River" tour which was focused on the southern U.S. states. Bootlegs from this phase of the tour are scarce at best, and the Memphis show was long thought to be non-existent. Only recently discovered are these tapes from the vast collection of Baltimore Jack. Apparently the show was taped by a Memphis FM radio jock, and then traded for another show back in the 1980s. The tapes then sat in a desk drawer for the better part of 30 years before surfacing during a move. The Memphis set featured here thus becomes a vital bridge between the legendary "Lennon" and Nassau Coliseum shows at the end of 1980 and the spring of 1981 European tour. Baltimore Jack's original cassette master tapes (which somehow refrained from demagnetizing over the years) have been digitally transferred, and the excellent sound quality, while perhaps not up to the highest quality audience-recorded shows of 1978 or the later 1984 tour, places this show easily among the best from "The River" tour, and is rarer still in that it is a complete start-to-finish recording. No filler or tracks mixed and matched from other shows. Lineage: TDK C-90 cassettes - wav - aac - flac - mp3 (Musiczilla via hainsworthguitar). Thanks very much, as this show only recently came to light!
