So the story goes, Tape Man Joe attended many concerts. Joe used a Sony D6 with either a Sony 929 or 939 microphone (memories have faded on which exact mic) and TDK metal tapes. Joe made a few copies and gave them to friends but never actively traded his recordings. Recently Joe lent a few of his masters to his friend, Jungleland user G (a generous collector himself who has lent tapes from his collection to help upgrade many shows). G asked me to finish off the transfers and post them. This is the fifth show of the ten-night stand back in 1984 somewhere in the swamps of Jersey. The set-list speaks itself. A couple of songs are outside their normal spots. It's sort of strange to see Cover Me in the first set and Spirit In The Night in the second (if at all during the BITUSA tour). Bruce and the E Street Band are locked in and deliver an excellent performance. There have been two recorders around for a while. Both recorders one and two are very good. Of course I'm a little biased here but I like Joe's recording the best. It may be ever so slightly distant than the other two, but I believe that Joe's equipment puts it over the top. It has an excellent bass response and a better overall clarity. I've uploaded the other two recorders to Jungleland for your comparison. Thanks to Tape Man Joe for recording and sharing his tapes and G for transferring the files. 01.BORN IN THE U.S.A. 02.PROVE IT ALL NIGHT 03.OUT IN THE STREET 04.ATLANTIC CITY 05.OPEN ALL NIGHT 06.NEBRASKA 07.COVER ME 08.DARLINGTON COUNTY 09.GLORY DAYS 10.THE PROMISED LAND 11.USED CARS 12.MY HOMETOWN 13.BADLANDS 14.THUNDER ROAD 15.HUNGRY HEART 16.DANCING IN THE DARK 17.CADILLAC RANCH 18.SPIRIT IN THE NIGHT 19.FIRE 20.NO SURRENDER 21.BECAUSE THE NIGHT 22.GROWIN' UP 23.BOBBY JEAN 25.ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) 26.JUNGLELAND 27.BORN TO RUN 28.DETROIT MEDLEY 29.TWIST AND SHOUT - DO YOU LOVE ME (with John Entwistle) Known faults: Unknown issue at start of show. "Growin' Up" includes the bear story. "Backstreets" again has a lengthy intro and a short "Sad Eyes" in the middle. "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" includes the "Come A Little Bit Closer" introduction. Audience tape. Two recording sources circulate, the first was released on the four-LP set 'Marathon Man Vol. 1 & 2'. The second is available on CDR 'My Hometown' from 1st generation tapes (Doinker).
