1985-06-04 Newcastle (Bosstrade Source as described on Brucebase) Audience Tapes are unknown generation from UK Record Fair. Quality very good and likely a earlier generation than the Bosstrade tapes. Some distortion on the River but this was also on the prior Bosstrade upload and on the other source so probably on the master and a reflection of the sound in the stadium. The speed runs very close to the other source. In my opinion one of the better sounding audience recordings for that tour and this represents an upgrade. Tapes 1 TDK90 - 2 TDK90 Playback Yamaha KX-480 Cassette Deck with dolby off. Playtrim neutral. External Furutech ADL GT40a analogue to digital converter set in Windows for 24/96 transfer. All other sound devices disabled. Recorded using iZotope RX3 Advanced with enabled ASIO ADL driver as internal 32bit float/96000 wav file and saved as a raw transfer. The 16-44 version is being uploaded first but some people who have heard this transfer have indicated they would like the 24-96 version which will follow. 24-96 version - for the purists I kept this as close to a raw transfer as possible except for channel balancing so no processing other than volume adjustment and file conversion/splitting. An edited versions of some tracks will also be uploaded with the 24-96 version where hiss reduction was applied selectively using the iZotope RX3 advanced denoise module with algorithm D to achieve 11 db reduction of tape hiss. Audacity used for edits of tracks across tape changes. The noise reduction was done using pro standard software and as far as I can tell has retained the fine detail and not introduced any unwanted artefacts. 16-44 version Tracks have been checked for errors and SBE's using TLH. This is the denoise/edit converted to 16-44. Resampled using RX3 and files converted to flac using CDWave. The same naming convention as the Bosstrade upload has been used but track times differ and I have not tested if they will still fit onto CDs without adjustment. I have joined the overlapping tape sides between Dancing In The Dark and Hungry Heart and between Racing In The Street and Rosalita so there is no longer an edit between those tracks. Similarly I have edited the gap between Trapped and Prove It All Night by borrowing approximately 5 seconds from the alternative source. The edit is a bit rough due to issues with both sources and a patch was applied to a micro gap on the right channel of the borrowed section. The first set is continuous. The second set is continuous except where there appears to be an edit between Pink Cadillac and Racing In The Street. Other edits appear late on eg after Rosalita. Disc 1 101.
