I got to the venue early, and convinced someone at the back of the floor, but above a tunnel entrance onto the floor, to change seats with me. About stage high, with clear air in front of me seemed like a good taping location: this recording proves it. I’ve cherished this since I first recorded it. I digitized it in 2004 for the 20th anniversary and released it as “Happy the Rest of Your Life", but I had no skills and only basic software. Hrubesh asked to get the masters to work with, and I happily agreed. The setlist and performance is wonderful! The opening 3-pack is one of the hottest I saw all tour. He also included more Nebraska songs than usual. The Shut Out the Light is beautifully haunting, In the 2d set we got a wonderful Downbound Train / I’m on Fire / Stolen Car sequence, before a majestic Pink Cadillac with the full Garden of Eden story. Then after Bobby Jean we got a Racing in the Street for the ages, one of the best among all the fine ones from this leg of the tour. Then Jungleland to follow - such a treat! The Detroit Medley is one of the finest ever - epic! The Twist & Shout was amazing - the audience was fully engaged and part of the song by that time. Finally, Bruce added Santa to close. Once you get through that you’ll understand why the original release was named, “Happy the Rest of Your Life”! JimCT Recorded by JimCT. Transferred by hobbes4444. Edited by hrubesh.
