So the story goes Tape Man Joe attended many concerts. Joe used a Sony D6 with a Nakamichi Mic (new for him in 1988) and TDK metal tapes. Joe made a few copies and gave them to friends but never actively traded his recordings. Recently Joe lent a few of his masters to his friend, Jungleland user G (a generous collector himself who has lent tapes from his collection to help upgrade many shows). G asked me to finish off the transfers and post them. Mjk5510’s multiple recorder project shows over 160 shows from pre-1999 that have more than one recording. It's now time to add another one. Both Mountain View shows have long circulated from the amazing masters from the legendary taper Mark Persic. As Brucebase refers to Persic's recording from this show as having soundboard-like quality. Joe taped it from the lawn in front of the repeater speakers. Joe upgraded from a Sony mic to a Nakamichi mic in 1988. The results speak for them self. There is very little audience interference. Joe locks in quickly and the quality is maintained throughout the entire show. There is only one tape flip (between Roulette and Cover Me) that causes a loss of music. That cut is also on Mark Persic's master. Sound samples included below. Thanks to Tape Man Joe for recording and sharing his tapes and G for transferring the files. 01.TUNNEL OF LOVE 02.BE TRUE 03.ADAM RAISED A CAIN 04.TWO FACES 05.ALL THAT HEAVEN WILL ALLOW 06.SEEDS 07.ROULETTE 08.COVER ME 09.BRILLIANT DISGUISE 10.SPARE PARTS 11.WAR 12.BORN IN THE U.S.A. 13.TOUGHER THAN THE REST 14.AIN'T GOT YOU - SHE'S THE ONE 15.YOU CAN LOOK (BUT YOU BETTER NOT TOUCH) 16.I'M A COWARD 17.I'M ON FIRE 18.ONE STEP UP 19.PART MAN, PART MONKEY 20.WALK LIKE A MAN 21.DANCING IN THE DARK 22.LIGHT OF DAY 23.BORN TO RUN 24.HUNGRY HEART 25.GLORY DAYS 26.ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) 27.HAVE LOVE WILL TRAVEL 28.TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT 29.SWEET SOUL MUSIC 30.RAISE YOUR HAND Known faults: The obligatory tape flip between Roulette and Cover Me. From Brucbase: "Cover Me" includes "Gimme Shelter" in the outro. "Part Man, Part Monkey" includes "Love Is Strange" in the outro. Bruce's parents are in the audience and he dedicates" Walk Like A Man" to his 'Pops'. "Born To Run" is solo acoustic. Audience tape. Released on CDR 'Ready For A Ride' (BTS2) and from Mark Persic's master recording 'Something New & Beautiful' (Ev2). Soundboard-like quality but it's still an audience tape. A complete professionally shot video recording of "Be True" can be found on the 'Tunnel Of Love Express Tour' DVD (Watchdog). A poor quality screenshot DVD also circulates.
