Incomplete from a cd bootleg... So I went into the vaults to find two uncirculated complete masters of that show. here's my master. A very good audience capture under that circumstances... ... 1988 my lungs collapsed two times. the second time I had to undergo invasive surgery. four weeks prior to this show. the waldbühne show was announced around that time (can you guess that? nowadays you can get your tickets nearly a year in advance) but bruce wanted to play west-berlin as well, after accepting to play that big show in east-berlin. while I was in hospital my brother got me a ticket. it was placed right beside my bed. first surgery failed... a second one had to be done... after that I was a wreck, but expectations for a Springsteen show was giving strength then I had to fight an internal infection.. and I feared to be too sick to go.. I told the professor that I had an urgent appointment at the waldbühne and he said, if there's no fever in the next 7 days I'll get permission to go... holiday from hospital for some hours... no fever signs for 7 days... a friend drove me home to pick up my equipment and then down to the venue. I had an certificate that I was reconvalescent from surgery so I could use a side entrance. Went as planned. I could have smuggled in every equipment... I was sitting right beneath the soundboard, with lots of clappers and asshole singers around me... a taping location I would never choose but I wasn't able to move away... and I swear I did not sing... despite of that the show was incredible. but you know, three and a half hours under my physical condition was hell... and everybody who ever visited the waldbühne know these steep endless stairs to the exit. going down at the beginning was ok, but getting up after the show was simply unbearable. I wasn't simply in the condition for that. it felt like an hour to get to the top... and during that I called me a silly idiot a hundred times for going to the show... but in the end it let me heal faster ;-) a perfect drug for me so now you get the proof I was there
