So the story goes, Tape Man Joe attended many concerts. Joe used a Sony D6 with a Nakamichi Mic (memories have faded on which exact mic) and TDK metal tapes. Joe made a few copies and gave them to friends but never actively traded his recordings. Recently Joe lent a few of his masters to his friend, Jungleland user G (a generous collector himself who has lent tapes from his collection to help upgrade many shows). G asked me to finish off the transfers and post them. A lot had changed since 1988. Bruce broke up with the E Street Band. He was married for the second time and became a father. In very un Bruce like fashion, he released two albums on the same day. He kept Roy Bittan, added a bunch of studio musicians and hit the road. After 15 shows in Europe, the new band settled into an 11 night stand on Bruce's home turf. The second show featured here includes a couple of tour premieres featuring a rearranged "Open All Night" and a cover of Wilson Pickett's "99 and a Half (Won't Do). To my knowledge there was only one recorder that circulated from this show. While not perfect, this is a big upgrade to that recording. It is a tad distant with some echo, but it has some really nice low end kick to it. Thanks to Tape Man Joe for recording and sharing his tapes and G for transferring the files. 01.BETTER DAYS 02.LOCAL HERO 03.LUCKY TOWN 04.DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN 05.OPEN ALL NIGHT 06.IF I SHOULD FALL BEHIND 07.57 CHANNELS (AND NOTHIN' ON) 08.BADLANDS 09.THE RIVER 10.LIVING PROOF 11.MY HOMETOWN 12.LEAP OF FAITH 13.MAN'S JOB 14.ROLL OF THE DICE 15.ALL OR NOTHIN' AT ALL 16.NINETY-NINE AND A HALF (WON'T DO) 17.REAL MAN 18.COVER ME 19.BRILLIANT DISGUISE (with Patti Scialfa) 20.TOUGHER THAN THE REST (with Patti Scialfa) 21.SOULS OF THE DEPARTED 22.THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER - BORN IN THE U.S.A. 23.LIGHT OF DAY 24.GLORY DAYS 25.WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY 26.BOBBY JEAN 27.HUNGRY HEART 28.THUNDER ROAD 29.BORN TO RUN 30.MY BEAUTIFUL REWARD Known faults: Tape flip during Light Of Day. From Brucbase wiki: "Open All Night", "Badlands", "All Or Nothin' At All", "Ninety-Nine And A Half (Won't Do)", "Real Man" and "Tougher Than The Rest" are added to the 30-song set - longest of the tour to date. First ever performances in the U.S. for "All Or Nothin' At All" and "Real Man". "Open All Night" is a new arrangement with Bruce playing the song alone on the guitar all the way through with help from Roy on the keyboards and Shane on the slide guitar before the full band kicking in at the end. The second set includes the last known "Real Man" and the final "Tougher Than The Rest" of the tour. Audience tape.
