"Philly Fever" Bruce Springsteen Wachovia Spectrum Philadelphia, PA April 28, 2009 A Bakerstuff recording Fanatic Records Remaster Tools used: Roxio, CD Wav Editor, Switch What a fantastic show! Night one of two nights at the legendary Spectrum, where Bruce claims it to be the first arena he ever performed in. The Philly shows always been special and being born in Philadelphia myself, I was privileged to see Bruce perform at the Spectrum in the early days. There always seemed to be a different energy there. Perhaps it could be accounted to the fact that Philadelphia embraced Bruce Springsteen’s music before the rest of the world knew about him. No doubt there was a cult following before Springsteen became a household word. Bruce pulls out all the stops noticing a giant sign of “Fire” with flames and all. Back to back oldies get played with the Philadelphia Special “The Fever” and “Mountain of Love” from the early days at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr, which is a suburb of Philadelphia. In The encores Bruce pulls out another staple from the mid-seventies with “You Can’t Sit Down” and ends a perfect set with the long-time show-stopper “Rosalita” The overall sound on this recording was great to begin with. I took it up a few notches by making it brighter, so that the high end stands out. You’ll hear a difference. Bakerstuff did an excellent job of editing. So my edits were very minimal. On disc 3, the stinger at the end of American Land overlapped to Rosalita. So, I pieced that together so that Rosie on track 6 begins with the very first notes of the song. I also shaved off about 46 seconds of audience noise at the end. Included as always is original Fanatic Records artwork. Enjoy!
