Sorry, no artwork (feel free to make some) Comments: Springsteen fans will be talking about this one for a long time. A late-summer squall passed through the NY Metro area at about 8:30 during the evening of the third and final MetLife Stadium performance on the "Wrecking Ball" tour; with the advance warning of radar, stadium officials evacuated the stadium and postponed the start of the concert for two hours -- the band finally walked onto the (very wet) stage at 10:30 ET. You'd never know the lateness of the hour based on the energy shown by fans and band alike -- for nearly 3 1/2 hours, the band gave it their all with a powerful performance that nearly cost Bruce his voice by the time the show was over. As luck would have it, the late start pushed the concert well into Bruce's 63rd birthday, and the occasion was marked first at midnight (with a "Happy Birthday to Bruce" audience serenade followed by a cover of Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour") and by the band themselves during the encore, when his 87-year-old mother, sister, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law (as well as Miami Steve's wife) joined the band for a cake presentation and fun "Twist and Shout" jam. I'm assuming this is the first time Bruce's mother has sung backing vocals with the E Street Band, but can't be sure. Another fun moment came during "Dancing in the Dark" when Bruce spotted Stevie's wife side-stage and ran over to bring her up to dance with him during the closing solo. (He jokingly apologized to Stevie after the song.) All in all, a total blast and a great way to close out the three-night run. In terms of sound quality, we got real lucky here. This was recorded in the 3rd row side stage directly under a secondary array of speakers, and the sound was GREAT. Considering these seats appeared in a drop at 1:00, I walked away with a much better recording than I would have expected in my original GA seats. High end is clean and clear; I used Audio Cleaning Lab to bump the low end a very small amount to balance it out to my own ears. Otherwise, nothing was needed. The audience around me were sophisticated and respectful Bruce fans; you hear some initial excited outbursts in the beginnings of the first few songs, but otherwise there is very little crowd on this recording -- and none that gets in the way of the music. Mp3 samples are included in the comments.
