Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out Notes from cre001: Tracks 13 to 27 revised by cre001 using iZotope RX2. Processing summary. Tracks 13 to 27 were recombined using foobar. A hum profile was created using a very quiet section at the end of track 22. Ambient background audience noise was removed from the hum profile using the RX2 broadband noise reduction. The hum profile was then used to reduce the hum from the end of track 13 through track 27 for the left channel only using the RX2 tonal noise reduction. Note the objective was to lower the level of hum so that it is no longer an issue whilst maintaining the fidelity of the recording and without introducing digital artefacts often associated with noise reduction techniques. An increase in gain of 1.2db was applied to the left channel to compensate for a slight reduction from the processing. Residual problems remained with track 19 WOASD. Some digital clicking due to damaged audio on the left channel was resolved by replacing tiny segments of the left channel with the good audio from the right channel. A couple of additional hum pulses on the left channel were subdued by applying further tonal noise reduction on the pulses. The section processed was between 0:25 and 1:30. Tracks were then resplit using CD wave and checked for errors and SBEs using TLH. ___________________ Original info file. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band HK Areena - Turku, Finland 2013-05-07 (Tuesday, May 7, 2013) AT933 hypercardioid (3-wire) > Church Audio ST9100 (miniXLR) > Sony M10 Sec G5 Row 1, front row upper level, angled PA array pointing directly at me (a great spot. . .) Contrast clause: Different gear from my torrent posted in May. So, the show started at 7 fucking 15. I was just finishing up when Big Boss Man came over the PA. I had to run around the entire arena because the rear stage was blocked off so I didn't get to my seat until midway through the opener. I started my other rig (DPA4061s) while running to the seats, and got this rig up and running once in my section. You'll hear some phasing in the first two songs as well. In addition, the front row of the upper level has plexiglass and a railing in front of the seats. It affected the omnidirectional DPAs but not the hypercards. Unfortunately, while this has overall better sound than the DPA4061 source because the directional mics cut some of the echo and boom in the venue, there is a buzzing/hum present starting after Brilliant Disguise due to I believe a faulty pre-amp. It's really only audible between songs and during quiet sections. Maybe someone with sophisticated software can figure out a way to minimize/eliminate it. . . An excellent show, only to be outdone by night 2, but that recording unfortunately suffers from loud buzzing from my pre-amp throughout almost the entire recording, including Wages of Sin. . . :-( Also dedicated to the wonderful friends I met during my travels on trains, buses, in queues, at the show in the pit. . . And a special thanks for my "tour guides" in Turku and Stockholm who welcomed a stranger into their group. You made this trip very special for me and I won't forget your generosity and friendship!
