I was already a bad dad - my 17 year old son had never seen Bruce, and when we discovered that he was off from school the next day, I decided to rectify that situation. My first thought was to leave the recording gear home and wait for the official download, but this hobby is a disease, so I decided to risk the metal detectors, wands, and bag checks that I knew were waiting for me. What I didn't expect was to be told "No backpacks!" at the entrance. (Small backpacks were not on the list of prohibited items.) We turned around and I asked my son, "Should we go back to the car or try another entrance?" I really could have gone either way since I HATE metal detectors, but he said we should try again. We got to the next gate and there were three people on line having their bags examined so I joined them and emerged unscathed. The taping environment was excellent aside from a little rain beforehand and again near the end of the show. Our neighbors were quiet, though I was initially concerned about the couple in front of us. They were a little chatty when they arrived as the lights went down. (I cut some of the opening applause so you won't have to forever hear the girl exclaim "These are like the best seats ever!" which amused me since we were over 100 yards away.) They settled down after "Serenade" and were more of a visual annoyance after that with their over-the-top public displays of affection. The sound in the stadium was excellent, much better than I remembered from my last visit. And since I was smart enough not to drink anything before or during the show, I was able to record the entire 3:47 marathon without interruption.
