BELLS OF SAN SALVADOR

Home demo version 1

Broom, boom broom ba, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka

They took him from his house and killed him in the street
They took him from his house, aaand killed
They killed him in the street, heeey oh
And nobody knows the numbers
Nobody knows the name
And all those who encircle, don't remember him

Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka

And they left him
Lying his room
They took all of his things
Heey, oh
And, hey, hey, lying on the jailhouse floor, sir
And wait there's the one, who killed my friend and left him in the sun

Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka,
Boom, ka boom broom ka, boom, ka boom broom ka

He did not deserve this
Baby he didn't run
La da dee da, la da da da da
And nobody knows the numbers
Nobody knows the name
Boo, la ba doo la, nobody knows the name
Now, brothers and sisters, aaaahhh...
Aaaaah...
Hey, ah...
Aaaaaah, aaaaaaaaahhhhh...
Aaah...
Aah...
Aaah...

Info

BELLS OF SAN SALVADOR is an unreleased Bruce Springsteen song. Springsteen used some lyrics from his live adaptation of Creedence Clearwater Revival's RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE in BELLS OF SAN SALVADOR. See the live 29 Apr 1981 version of RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE for more details.

The above lyrics are for an acoustic home demo take of BELLS OF SAN SALVADOR that was recorded, according to Brucebase, at Thrill Hill Recording (Springsteen's home studio) in Colts Neck, NJ, sometime between mid-September 1981 and May 1982. This version is an incomplete practice take with mostly bluffed or unintelligible lyrics.

Two other home demo versions of BELLS OF SAN SALVADOR are also in circulation, but they're merely harmonies takes. See the home demo version 2 and home demo version 3 for more details. Springsteen would also rehearse the song with the band in April 1982. See the band rehearsal version for more details.

The song is titled "They killed Him In The Street" on this bootleg. This is probably an incorrect title coined by the producers of The Lost Masters series who were the first to release this home demo in 1996.
