FOLLOW THAT DREAM

Live 13 Oct 1986 version

[Spoken intro:] Oh, I'd like to uh... do this song and dedicate it to Neil and Pegi. And uh... and to you folks, for your uh... for your support and kindness that are gonna help, help those kids out. This is for you guys.

If your heart is restless from waiting so long
If you're tired and weary and you can't go on
If a distant dream is calling you
Then there's just one thing you can do

Follow that dream wherever it may lead
Come on now, follow that dream to find the love you need
Come on, follow that dream

Now I've been searching for a heart that's free
Searching for someone to search with me
I need a love, a love I can trust
Together we'll search for the things that come to us

In dreams, wherever they may lead
Come on now, follow that dream to find the love you need
Come on, follow that dream

Now everyone has the right to live
The right to a chance to give what they have to give
The right to fight for the things they believe
For the things that come to them in dreams

In dream wherever they may lead
Come on, follow that dream to find the love you need
Come on now, follow that dream wherever it may lead
Come on now, follow that dream to find the love you need
To find the love you need
To find the love you need
Come on follow that dream

The 13 Oct 1986 Show

The Bridge School Benefit is an annual charity concert organized by Neil Young's wife (until 2014) Pegi Young. Almost every one of the concerts, which started in 1986 and were held every year since 1998, has taken place at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. Proceeds from the concerts benefit the Bridge School, a non-profit organization in Hillsborough, CA, for children with severe speech and physical impairments. The school aims to help the children achieve full participation in their communities through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technologies (AT). It was founded in 1986 by Pegi Young, Jim Foreder and Dr. Marilyn Buzolich. Bruce Springsteen has performed at two of these benefits: the first edition in 1986 and the ninth edition in 1995.

The first annual concert took place on 13 Oct 1986 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA, and featured in the line-up Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Nils Lofgren, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Robin Williams, and Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen was backed by Nils Lofgren and Danny Federici during his set.
