Info

I GOT MY EYES ON YOU is a Bruce Springsteen song that he recorded in studio in 1977. The song remains unreleased, and unfortunately, no audio recording or lyrics have surfaced.

According to Sony's logs of Bruce Springsteen's studio sessions, I GOT MY EYES ON YOU was recorded on 15 Aug and 14 Sep 1977 at Atlantic Studios or The Record Plant in New York City, NY.

In the handwritten lyrics notebook that was reproduced in The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story box set, there is a reproduction of a demo tape inlay titled "The Boss" that lists I GOT MY EYES ON YOU. The take numbers are marked next to the titles of the songs on the right side (see scan below). Next to I GOT MY EYES ON YOU is "TK #14", indicating that at least 14 takes of the song were cut. The songs on the inlay's right side, including I GOT MY EYES ON YOU, are likely all from the 15 Aug 1977 session.

In his 2012 book E Street Shuffle: The Glory Days Of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Clinton Heylin wrote that I GOT MY EYES ON YOU "was considered good enough to be placed on a comp. reel alongside finished takes of 'The Way' and 'Prove It All Night' (where it clocks in at 3:45)." Heylin also reveals that a number of mixes for I GOT MY EYES ON YOU were done for Tracks project.
