SOMEDAY (WE'LL BE TOGETHER)

Official studio version

Your voice comes calling through the mist
I awake from a dream and my heart begins to drift
Tonight we're on our own
Tonight we're all alone
Oh-oh, tonight

Someday we'll be together
And the night will fall around us
This love will last forever
Someday we'll be together
Together

I can't sleep so I lay awake listenin' to the sounds of the city below
I get dressed and walk the streets but I got nowhere to go
Tonight it's you I miss
Tonight my only wish is
Oh-oh, tonight

Someday we'll be together
And the night will fall around us
This love will last forever
Someday you'll be mine

Tonight we're on our own
Tonight we're all alone
Oh-oh, tonight

Someday we'll be together
And the night will fall around us
This love will last forever
Someday you'll be mine
Woah-whoaaa
Someday you'll be mine
Woah-whoaaa (this love will last forever)
Someday you'll be mine
(Someday we'll be together)
(The night will fall around us)
(This love will last forever)
(Someday you'll be mine)
(Someday we'll be together)

Info

SOMEDAY (WE'LL BE TOGETHER) is a song written by Bruce Springsteen and released on The Promise in 2010. The above lyrics are for Bruce Springsteen's official studio version of SOMEDAY (WE'LL BE TOGETHER) as released in 2010.

Writing and Recording

According to Sony's logs of Bruce Springsteen's studio sessions, SOMEDAY (WE'LL BE TOGETHER) was recorded on 26 and 29-30 Sep 1977 at The Record Plant in New York City, NY. The song is listed under the title "Someday (Tonight)" on all the tape logs.

The version that was released on The Promise is the only studio take of SOMEDAY (WE'LL BE TOGETHER) that's in circulation, though the backing track (instrumental-only) has been circulating on bootlegs since 1996. It was most likely recorded during one the above-mentioned 1977 sessions. The official studio version of SOMEDAY (WE'LL BE TOGETHER), released in 2010, features modern lead vocals and background vocals and probably some other modern elements too.
