Prior to the release of The Promise in 2010, one studio take of TALK TO ME had been circulating on bootlegs. It was recorded in August 1977 at Atlantic Studios in New York City, NY. That circulating take is instrumental only (or possibly backing track).

It can be found on several bootlegs, including The Definitive Darkness Outtakes Collection (E. St. Records) [disc 1, track 18], The Lost Masters Vol. 2 (Labour Of Love) [track 13], and Darkness Outtakes 1978 Vol. 1: The Iceman (Scorpio) [track 07].
