TRAPPED AGAIN

Live 27 May 2001 version

Here I am baby, right where you found me
I'm trying to break these chains that surround me
If I look a little different darling it's because I've changed
Half-painted pictures they are now all that remains

I can't let these past mistakes, let 'em bring me down
And I ain't waiting on no angel of mercy
I came to stay but I got swept away

I'm trapped again
I can't get out without losing you
I'm trapped again
Why can't you feel what I'm going through
I'm trapped again
I need an answer girl, can't you see
I'm trapped again
Come and rescue me

Monday morning baby it came so fast
Somebody call ???
I try to think that ??? last
I hear your voice all night baby

Can't let the hand of fate
Let it drag me down
I can't get no angel of mercy
I came to stay but I got swept away

I'm trapped again
I can't get out without losing you
I'm trapped again
Why can't you see what I'm going through
I'm trapped again
But I need an answer girl, can't you see
I'm trapped again
Come and rescue me

I can't let this hand of fate
Let it drag me down
I can't get no angel of mercy
I came to stay but I got swept away

I'm trapped again
I can't get out without losing you
I'm trapped again
Why can't you feel what I'm going through
I'm trapped again
I need an answer girl, can't you see
I'm trapped again
Come and rescue me

Say, I'm trapped again
I can't get out without losing you
I'm trapped again
I can't get out without losing you
I'm trapped again
I can't get out without losing you
I'm trapped again
Say yeah yeah, yeah yeah
I'm trapped again
Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa
I'm trapped again
Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa
I'm trapped again
Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa
I'm trapped again

Info

TRAPPED AGAIN is a song co-written by Southside Johnny, Bruce Springsteen, and Steven Van Zandt in early 1978 during sessions for Southside Johnny's third album. It was originally released on Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes' 1978 album Hearts Of Stone. See the original Johnny & The Asbury Jukes version for more details.

Studio Recording

According to Southside Johnny, he predominantly wrote TRAPPED AGAIN, with Springsteen and Van Zandt merely adding bits and pieces. That makes it very unlikely that Springsteen recorded a take of the song in studio.
