WRECKING BALL

Live 27 Feb 2012 version

[Jimmy Fallon (spoken intro):] Welcome back everybody. Here with the title track from the upcoming album Wrecking Ball, comes out March 6th, you can preorder it on iTunes right now. Once again, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band!

I was raised out of steel here in the swamps of Jersey, some misty years ago
Through the mud and the beer, blood and the cheers, I've seen champions come and go
So if you got the guts mister, yeah if you've got the balls
If you think it's your time, then step to the line, and bring on your wrecking ball

Bring on your wrecking ball
Bring on your wrecking ball
Come on and take your best shot, let me see what you've got
Bring on your wrecking ball

Now my home's here in these meadowlands where mosquitoes grow big as airplanes
Where the blood is spilled, the arena is filled, and giants play the game
So raise up your glasses, let me hear your voices call, come on!
Because tonight all the dead are here, so bring on your wrecking ball

Bring on your wrecking ball
Bring on your wrecking ball
Take your best shot, let me see what you've got
Bring on your wrecking ball

Hey, hey, a one two three four!

Yeah, we know that come tomorrow, none of this will be here
So hold tight on your anger, hold tight on your anger
Hold tight to your anger, and don't fall to your fears

Now when all this steel and these stories, when they drift away to rust
And when all our youth and beauty, it's been given to the dust
And the game is been decided and we're burning the clock down
And all our little victories and glories have turned into parking lots
When your best hopes and desires are scattered through the wind
And hard times come, and hard times go
And hard times come, and hard times go
And hard times come, and hard times go
And hard times come, and hard times go
And hard times come, and hard times go
Yeah, just
to come again

Bring on your wrecking ball
Bring on your wrecking ball
Come on and take your best shot, let me see what you've got
Bring on your wrecking ball
Bring on your wrecking ball (bring on your wrecking ball)
Bring on your wrecking ball (bring on your wrecking ball)
Come on and take your best shot, let me see what you've got
Bring on your wrecking ball

One, two, a one two three four!
(Whoa whoa whoa-whoa)
(Whoa whoa-whoa)

(Whoa whoa-whoa)
(Whoa whoa-whoa)

  • On the first day (Monday, 27 Feb 2012), Springsteen and the E Street Band were the musical guests, and performed two songs: WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN and WRECKING BALL.
  • On the second day (Tuesday, 28 Feb 2012), Kenny Chesney was the musical guest and performed I'M ON FIRE, backed by his band.
  • On third the day (Wednesday, 29 Feb 2012), John Legend was the musical guest and performed DANCING IN THE DARK, backed by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon's house band The Roots.
  • On the fourth day (Thursday, 01 Mar 2012), Elvis Costello was the musical guest and performed FIRE and BRILLIANT DISGUISE, backed by The Roots.

After performing a spoof of LMFAO's SEXY AND I KNOW IT with Jimmy Fallon, he was interviewed by Fallon and then performed DEATH TO MY HOMETOWN (with the E Street Band and Tom Morello), JACK OF ALL TRADES (with the E Street Band and Tom Morello), and THE E STREET SHUFFLE (with the E Street Band, The Roots, and Tom Morello).
