FIRE
Jimi Hendrix
Alright,
Now dig this, baby
You don't care for me
I don't care about that
Gotta new fool, ha!
I'd like it like that
I have only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Whoa, let me stand baby
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Yeah, baby
Listen here, baby
And stop acting so crazy
You say your mom ain't home
it ain't my concern,
Just play with me and you won't get burned
I have only one itching desire
Let me stand, baby
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Oh, let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Ow! Ahh, move over, Rover
And let Jimi take over
Yeah, you know what I'm talking 'bout
Yeah, get on with it, baby
That's what I'm talking 'bout
Now dig this!
Ha!
Now listen, baby
You try to give me your money
You better save it, babe
Save it for your rainy day
I have only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire, ha
Ow!
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Oh, let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Oh, let me stand, baby
(Let me stand next to your fire)
I ain't gonna do you no harm
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Ow, Yeah, You better move over baby
I ain't gonna hurt ya baby
Ah, I ain't talkin' with your ol' lady
Ow, Ah, Yes this is Jimi talkin' to you
Yeah, baby
This song is a cover, and is very different from FIRE by Bruce
Springsteen. It is written and originally performed by Jimi Hendrix, from his 1967 album
Are You Experienced.

One of the many covers played live by the Castiles in the early years. One known performance on
16 Sept 1967, at the Left Foot Teen Club, an "over 13 under 18" club located in the
recreation center of St Peter's Episcopal Church at 37 Throckmorton St in Freehold, NJ. Also
covered by the Earth band around Sep and Oct 1968 at the Ocean Country College, Toms River, NJ.
Some facts about this song: The main lyrics in this song ("Let me stand next to your
fire") came from a time when the band had just finished a gig in the cold. They went to bass
player Noel Redding's mother's house. When they got there, Jimi asked Margaret, the mother, to
"Let me stand next to your fire." The line "Move over Rover and let Jimi take
over" comes from when they were at Noel Redding's mothers house. Jimi wanted to stand by the
fire, but the Reddings' German Shepard dog was in the way.
