HIGH HOPES was written by Tim Scott-McConnell who originally released it on his 1987 solo album The High Lonesome Sound (Geffen Records). During his career he has used his full name, "Tim Scott-McConnell", as well as just "Tim Scott". The High Lonesome Sound was relased under the name "Tim Scott". HIGH HOPES was also recorded and released by his band on their 1990 self-titled album, The Havalinas.
