I WALK THE LINE©

Live 13 Sep 2003 version

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds me
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yeah I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and that day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
The happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds me
Because you're mine, I walk the line
Because you're mine, I walk the line
Because you're mine, I walk the line

Written by Johnny Cash who recorded it in 1956, and released it on his 1956 LP Johnny Cash With His Hot And Blue Guitar.

Johnny Cash - Johnny Cash With His Hot And Blue Guitar

Sound-checked during the Darkness On The Edge Of Town tour, on 20 and 21 Sep 1978, at the Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ, but not played during the shows.

During The Rising tour, Bruce Springsteen opened the 13 Sep 2003 show at FedEx Field, Washington, DC, with I WALK THE LINE as a tribute to Johnny Cash who passed away the previous day. The song also also opened the next show on 14 Sep 2003 at Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill, NC.
