Bruce Springsteen Tribute - Lebanese Tribute to Bruce Springsteen

LONESOME DAY

Once I thought I knew
Everything I needed to know about you
Your sweet whisper, your tender touch
But I didn't really know that much
The joke's on me, but it's gonna be okay
If I can just get through this lonesome day

Hell's brewin', dark sun's on the rise
This storm'll blow through by and by
House is on fire, viper's in the grass
A little revenge and this too shall pass
This too shall pass, I'm gonna pray
Right now, all I got's this lonesome day

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright

Better ask questions before you shoot
Deceit and betrayal's bitter fruit
It's hard to swallow, come time to pay
That taste on your tongue don't easily slip away

Let kingdom come, I'm gonna find my way
Through this lonesome day
Lonesome day
Lonesome day
Lonesome day

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright

Lonesome day

Released on The Rising in 2002, the album that won a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album, and that was also nominated for Album Of The Year.

Also released on the Lonesome Day UK single in 2002 with LAND OF HOPE AND DREAMS (live), and on the Lonesome Day [enhanced] UK single in 2002 (both audio and video tracks) with SPIRIT IN THE NIGHT (live) and THE RISING (live).

Played during The Rising, Vote For Change, and Devils & Dust tours.

The opening track of the album, and possibly the most powerful opener to a Springsteen album since Born In The USA. One or two references to the tragic events of Sep 11th appear in this track, such as the title... or possibly is it the audience reading too much into a song which in another alternate world would seem to hint at a lover's betrayal?

Available on:

  1. The Rising (track 1)
  2. The Essential Bruce Springsteen (disc 2- track 13)
