ONE WAY STREET

Official studio version

Well if the sun should fall from the sky tomorrow
If the rain brings a tear to your eye I would share your sorrow
If you must go, then take your leave
Our love was strong, our love was sweet
But we were walking on the wild side, running down a one way street

In the night, I see only the fire in your eyes
The morning light brings the shadows of your lies
And so the change has come today
And for our wrongs well we must pay
We were walking on the wild side, running down a one way street

[sax solo]

Oh my darling I must, I must confess
This can't be love, no I am just a man possessed
And so the tide has turned to day
We can turn and walk away
'Cause we were walking on the wild side, running down a one way street
Yes we are
Girl, we're walking on the wild side, running down a one way street

[sax solo]

Whoa-hoo

Live History

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed ONE WAY STREET twice on 07 Dec 2010 during a gig in front of a small crowd at Carousel House in Asbury Park, NJ. The gig was videotaped for a future webcast, but none of three takes of the song was included in the webcast. In a Backstreets.com review, Flynn McLean wrote: "'One Way Street' followed and, again, to many, they sounded good the first time, but number two was even better. In between, Bruce and Steve worked on their vocal harmonies, which paid off the second time around. This was the first song where they did an additional but partial take, just from the sax solo to the end of the song."
