PEOPLE GET READY is a song written by Curtis Mayfield and originally released
by The Impressions on their 1965 album People Get Ready (ABC-Paramount, mono catalogue
number ABC 505, stereo catalogue number ST 90097). The song was also released as a single in
February 1965, with I'VE BEEN TRYING on the B-side (ABC-Paramount, catalogue number 45-10622). It
reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #3 on the Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart. In
Rolling Stone magazine placed PEOPLE GET READY at #24 on its list of "The 500 Greatest
Songs Of All Time".
