TALK TO ME LIKE THE RAIN
Album's version
The night is falling
Under the vesper bells lonely chime
And I ain't nobody's valentine
But I ain't sorry for wanting the things
That you cannot give
And if you want me to walk away
Give me something I can walk away with
Talk to me like the rain baby
Talk to me like the rain
And I will lie here and listen
All of those promises
They're held like tender dreams
Inside our hands and they're all
Just waiting there for our command
Now I don't want to talk to no one darlin'
I don't want the sun to shine
I'll just lie inside this darkness baby
Until you are mine
Talk to me like the rain baby
Talk to me like the rain
And I will lie here and listen
Yesterdays empires they are all vanishing
And without you those new worlds darlin'
They don't mean a thing
Talk to me like the rain baby
Talk to me like the rain
Talk to me like the rain darlin'
Talk to me like the rain
And I will lie here and listen

Written by Patti Scialfa, TALK TO ME LIKE THE RAIN is from her debut album Rumble Doll
which she released on 13 Jul 1993 on Columbia Records.

Bruce Springsteen plays guitars and keyboards on the studio recording of two songs from
Rumble Doll: BIG BLACK HEAVEN and TALK TO ME LIKE THE
RAIN. He is also credited for production assistance on both tracks. Though Patti's album had
largely been completed in 1991 and 1992, these two tracks were among the last finished, recorded
around March 1903 at Thrill Hill West, Springsteen's home studio in Los Angeles, CA.
The above lyrics are for the Rumble Doll album's version of TALK TO ME LIKE THE RAIN. As
far as it's known, Springsteen has never performed this song live.
