In September 2019, three so-called "test pressings" from Argentina surfaced on eBay: "Dancing In The Dark", "Cover Me", and "Brilliant Disguise". And in April 2020, another copy of "Dancing In The Dark" (slightly different version) surfaced on eBay. I will upload photos taken from eBay in the next four posts.

At first I thought they were fake. I have never seen them before... why would they surface more than 30 years after they were released? They seem to be made around the same time (similar designs), but there's a 4-year difference between "Dancing In The Dark" and "Brilliant Disguise"... though they could have been all released at the same time, in 1988 for example. And why would a test pressing have "Venta prohibida" (not for sale) sticker?

I sent an inquiry to the seller of the first three copies and she replied:
Hello,
I do not know how you can know they are not a fake, but I can tell you that they are not a fake indeed... These ones and so many others from different artists I've been selling, as well as the so many radio items I offer in my store come from the vaults of an old local radio station whose owner has decided to sell all the old vinyl stuff in the radio's warehouse.

And then I found similar releases from other artists: Nena (on Discogs), Accept (on Discogs)Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (on Discogs), Bob Dylan (on SearchingForAGem.com).

So, I believe these are genuine, and I would more appropriately describe them "advance promos", not test pressings.
