You're- you're all I need now, I need you
You're all I need to be happy
Some men ain't satisfied by the pleasure love brings, no no, no
And some men ain't happy with just simple things now
They need more, more love is about, ooh yeah
They need more, umm, we, we took a vow, you and me
'Cause baby you're, you're all I need now my darling
You're, you're all I need in this world
You're all I need now my baby, yeah, yeah, oh yeah, yeah
Some men need money just to get to survive
Some men need lots of different things just to survive, oh yeah
But in the end, you get strangled, baby, that's no reason, that I, something strangled in those leaves
Baby you're, you're all I need now my baby
You're, you're all I need
You're, you're all I need now my baby
Your man in this world; you're my reason to believe
ALL I NEED is a song written by Bruce Springsteen who donated it to Gary U.S. Bonds for his 1982 album On The Line. See Gary U.S. Bonds' cover version for more details.
Between Spring 1981 and Spring 1982, Bruce Springsteen spent much time laying down home demos at Thrill Hill Recording (Springsteen's home studio) in Colts Neck, NJ. These were non-professional home recordings most of which have first surfaced on The Lost Masters bootleg series released by the Labour Of Love label in 1996. One incomplete work-in-progress take of ALL I NEED has surfaced from this period.
The above lyrics are for that circulating take of ALL I NEED. According to Brucebase, it was recorded sometime in late June 1981 at Thrill Hill Recording. It can be found on The Lost Masters Vol. 7 (Labour Of Love) bootleg.
According to Brucebase, a Bruce Springsteen vocal rendition of ALL I NEED was likely recorded at The Power Station in New York City, NY, during the January-February 1982 recording sessions with Gary U.S. Bonds — it's the same core recording with the E Street Band that's found on the Bonds album, but with the Springsteen lead vocal overdub.
ALL I NEED was sound-checked prior to the 08 Jul 1981 show in East Rutherford, NJ, but it was not performed on any of The River Tour's regular shows. See the 08 Jul 1981 sound-check version for more details.
At least 2 artists have recorded and released Bruce Springsteen's ALL I NEED.
Thanks Jake (ol'catfishinthelake at BTX and Greasy Lake) for the lyrics help.
