BREAK OUT is a Darkness On The Edge Of Town studio outtake that has not been officially released. It is related to BADLANDS, PROVE IT ALL NIGHT, and FRANKIE. These similarities are more apparent in unofficial studio version #2.
BREAK OUT is also known in among collectors under the title ALL NIGHT LONG.
Two studio takes of BREAK OUT have been circulating on bootlegs. An early "rough workout" take with very bluffed lyrics was recorded in September 1977 at Atlantic Studios in New York City, NY. The above lyrics are for that version.
A "more developed" take with nearly finished lyrics was likely recorded shortly afterwards at The Record Plant in New York City, NY. See unofficial studio version #2 for more details.
