1995 studio snippet
What up, come here, man!
One two, ah-one, two, three
One
Whoa!
Monday mornin' runs to Sunday night
And screams slow me down before the new year dies, oh
Much to kill, kill a lovin' smile
And every mother with a baby cryin' in her arms, sayin'
Give me help, give me strength
Give a soul a night of fearless sleep
Give me love, give me peace
Don't you know these days you pay for everything
Got high hopes
Got high hopes
All right, got high hopes
Got high hopes
[cut]
Everything
Got high hopes
Got high hopes
Come back, man
Got high hopes
(Don't!)
Got high hopes
Comin' from the city, comin' from the wild
I see a breathless army breakin' like a cloud
It's gonna smother love, it's gonna shoot your hopes (Stop! That's not funny!)
Before the meek inherit they'll learn to hate themselves
[cut]
[Bruce's son:] Hi, daddy!
[Bruce:] He's got it!
[Bruce's son:] Guitar
[Bruce:] Yeah -- guitar, that's right, he said guitar! Guitar! Guitar! Guitar!
(There we go)
[Bruce:] Modern recording! The '90s! [Bruce and Patti laugh]
I mean... [laughs]
[Patti Scialfa:] Very different for you, I'm sure!
[Bruce:] Everything that you hear...
[Male voice:] Xerox this, several more...
[Bruce:] ...and the '70s...
[Male voice:] Make a half a dozen of those...
[Bruce:] And the '60s!
[Patti:] [laughs] And the '50s!
[Bruce and Patti:] Ooh, ooh
[Patti:] Dah, dah
[Bruce:] And then we have, second:
Ooh, ooh
[Patti:] Ooh, ooh
[Bruce:] And then we have third:
[Patti:] Ooh
[cut]
Give me love, give me peace
Don't you know these days you pay for everything
Got high hopes
[cut]
[Bruce:] Uh... What's the part beneath, and, adds...
[Patti:] I got high hopes, high hopes, high hopes
[Bruce:] Try that.
[cut]
High hopes
High hopes
