Live 27 Sep 1975 version
[Spoken intro:] There I was in India. [guitar riff] Riding across the desert. [guitar riff] Cruising across the desert [guitar riff] on my fuel-injected camel. [guitar riff] There was this guy sitting in the middle of the desert. [guitar riff] Had no clothes on, just sitting there with his sheep. [guitar riff] Zoom past. [guitar riff] Put my camel in reverse. [guitar riff] Roll it back. Said, "Hey, what's happening?" He said, "Kitty's back."
Catlong sighs holding Kitty's black tooth
Yeah, she left to marry some top cat, ain't that the cold truth
There hasn't been a tally since Sally left the alley
Since Kitty left with Big Pretty things have gotten pretty thin
Yeah, yes they have
It's tight on this fence since them young dudes are muscling in
Yeah, Jack Knife sighs 'cause baby's in a bundle
She goes running nightly, lightly through the jungle
Them tin cans are exploding out in the ninety-degree heat
Cat somehow lost his Kitty down on Bleecker Street
It's a sad, sad story, but it's true
The Cat just shrugs his shoulders, sits back and sighs
Whoa, oh, oh, what can I do?
Hey, what can I do?
Whoa, what can I do?
Oh, oh, what can -- Clarence Clemons gonna do that!
Catlong lies back bent on a trash can
Flashing lights cut the night, dude in white says he's the man
You better learn to move fast when you're young or you're not long around
Cat somehow lost his Kitty down in the city pound
Get right, get tight, get down
Come on, Steve!
Bam!
Hey, Clarence!
Hey, boys!
[Spoken:] Boys, they been handing out them plane tickets again. They're all gonna hand out, hand out them plane, plane tickets, if you want to go followin' me all around, town to town, city to city, uh, state to state, um... Points are, going that Ozark Airline today, we never know what to do. Damn. Skimming across the runway... I lived.
And here she comes (and here she comes)
And here she comes (here she comes)
Here she comes, here she comes
Here she comes, here she comes
Here she comes, here she comes
Here she comes
Here she comes
All right, here she comes
Here she comes, (here she comes)
Here she comes, (here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes, here she comes)
(Here she comes)
Whoa!
Kitty's back in town (here she comes, now)
Kitty's back (oh, oh, all right)
Kitty's back in town (here she comes, now)
Kitty's back (oh, oh, all right)
Kitty's back in town (here she comes, now)
Kitty's back (oh, oh, all right)
Kitty's back in town (here she comes, now)
Kitty's back (oh, oh, all right)
Cat knows his Kitty's been untrue
And that she left him for a city dude
She's so soft, she's so blue
When he looks into her eyes
He just sits back and sighs
Oh, what can I do?
Whoa, oh, what can I do?
Whoa, what can I do?
Whoa, oh
Oh, oh
Whoa, oh
Whoa, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah
All right, all right
I'll let you do it, boys!
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)
Yeah, that's all right now, oh
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)

Come on, wanna go wanna go wanna go wanna go wanna go all 'round, yeah
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right) Yeah, that's all right
Little bit louder
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)
Yeah, I just want to play all night
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right) All right
Hey, Clarence!
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)
Yes, that's all right, now
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right) Oh, oh, oh, oh, all right
That's all right now
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)
Right, that's all right now
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right) All right
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, all right, oh, it's all right)
Take it up, boys!
[Spoken outro:] Big C! Clarence Clemons! Dan Federici on the organ. Roy Bittan on piano. Clarence Big Man, Clarence Clemons. On the drums, Max Weinberg, Mighty Max.
The above lyrics are for the live 27 Sep 1975 performance of KITTY'S BACK at Ambassador Theatre in St. Louis, MO, during the Born To Run Tour. The song was played in an extended, full-band version featuring a snippet of Van Morrison's MOONDANCE in the midsection. This particular version features the "desert" spoken/guitar introduction occasionally used on the tour. Another good example is the 27 Dec 1975 performance in Upper Darby, PA, when the story featured Ed Sciaky.
Thanks Jake (ol'catfishinthelake at BTX and Greasy Lake) for the lyrics help.
