The song, or at least Springsteen's parts, was recorded in early 1987 at Shakedown Studios in New York City, NY.
"Ho Ka Hey Wah Nah, Ho Ka Hey Wah Nah Woh" is a war cry of the Lakota Sioux that means "Let's Go - Now".
