Live 28 Apr 2005 version
[Spoken intro:] Thank you. There always was uh, songwriters uh, I owe the dept to uh, when I got me a voice. I'm gonna bring a friend of mine out to help me with, to help me with this song. Come here LaFave, come on out!
Jimmy LaFave: | Many a month has come and gone |
Since I've wandered from my home
In those Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Jimmy LaFave: | Many a page of life has turned |
Many lessons I have learned
And I know back in those hills I do belong
Jimmy LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
Riding my pony on the reservation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
A cowboy's life is my occupation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Bruce Springsteen: | But as I sit here today |
Because of many miles I am away
From the place I rode my pony through the draw
Bruce Springsteen: | Where the oak and black-jack trees |
Kiss the playful prairie breeze
I feel back in those hills where I belong
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
Riding my pony on the reservation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
A cowboy's life is my occupation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Bruce Springsteen: | Solo, Jimmy! |
[Jimmy LaFave guitar solo]
Jimmy LaFave: | As I turn life a page |
In the land of the great Osage
In those Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Bruce Springsteen: | Hey! |
Springsteen and LaFave: | Where the black oil rolls and flows |
And the snow white cotton grows
I feel like in those hills where I belong
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
Riding my pony on the reservation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
A cowboy's life is my occupation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Bruce Springsteen: | ??? |
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
Riding my pony on the reservation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Springsteen and LaFave: | Way down yonder in the Indian nation |
A cowboy's life is my occupation
In the Oklahoma Hills where I was born
Bruce Springsteen: | Here we go! |
