Do it! | |
Sam Moore: | That's all right |
Moore and Prater: | Soothe me, baby, soothe me |
Soothe me with your kindness
For, you know, your powerful loving is
Soothing to me | |
Sam Moore: | One more time, Dave! |

SOOTHE ME is a song written by Sam Cooke. Sam & Dave released a live version of the song, recorded on-tour in Paris, as a single in May 1967. The above lyrics are for the original Sam & Dave version of SOOTHE ME as released in 1967.
Bruce Springsteen occasionally performed SOOTHE ME live between 1975 and 1977. He also used a snippet of the song in A LOVE SO FINE during the Born To Run Tour, TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT during The Reunion Tour, and MARY'S PLACE during The Rising Tour.
Though the song was originally released by Simms Twins in 1961 (see the original Simms Twins version), it is Sam & Dave's live 1967 recording of the song that Bruce Springsteen was likely familiar with.
