Live 10 Dec 1998 version
[Concert presenter (spoken intro):] We're here with Peter Gabriel and Tracy Chapman, Bruce Springsteen and Youssou N'Dour!
All: | Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights |
Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights
Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights
Get Up, stand up, don't give up the fight
Peter Gabriel: | Preacher man don't tell me heaven is under the earth |
I know you don't know what life is really worth
Youssou N'Dour: | Not all that glitters is gold, half the story has never been told |
Now you see the light, get up for your right
All: | Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights |
Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights
Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights
Get Up, stand up, don't give up the fight
Tracy Chapman: | Most people think a great god will come from the sky |
Take away everything and make everybody feel high
But if you knew what life is worth, you will look to yours on earth
And now you see the light, stand up for your right, yeah
All: | Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights |
Get Up, stand up, don't give up the fight
Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights
Get Up, stand up, don't give up the fight
Bruce Springsteen: | We're sick and tired of your ism-skism game, I'm going to heaven in-a Jesus name |
We know when we understand almighty God is a living man
You can fool some people sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time
So now we see the light, come on and stand up for our rights, yeah
All: | Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights |
Get Up, stand up, don't give up the fight
Get Up, stand up, stand up for your rights
Get Up, stand up, don't give up the fight

The above lyrics are for the live 10 Dec 1998 performance of GET UP STAND UP at Palais Omnisports De Paris-Bercy in Paris, France, during a benefit show for the Amnesty International Foundation. The song was performed with Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'Dour.
Following a successful court case settled in London earlier that day, Bruce Springsteen flew to Paris on 10 Dec 1998 where he joined the cast of performers for a benefit show for the Amnesty International Foundation commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights (UDHR). The concert took place at Palais Omnisports De Paris-Bercy in Paris and was broadcast on French TV. Springsteen's appearance was not promoted (see poster and ticket scans below).
Springsteen first joined Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'Dour on GET UP STAND UP, just like they did 10 year earlier during the Amnesty International Human Rights Now! Tour, before performing a 4-song acoustic set of his own: THE GHOST OF TOM JOAD, BORN IN THE U.S.A., WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY, and NO SURRENDER.
BORN IN THE U.S.A. was performed twice due to equipment failure.
The 10 Dec 1998 show was partially released in 1999 on home video by Image Entertainment. Titled The Paris Concert For Amnesty International: The Struggle Continues..., the various artists home video includes the joint rendition of GET UP, STAND UP, plus three Bruce Springsteen acoustic solo performances of NO SURRENDER, BORN IN THE U.S.A., and WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY. The VHS and U.S. LaserDisc issues of this release have a running time of around 120 minutes. The DVD and Japan LaserDisc issues have a running time of around 172 minutes. In 2013 the same four songs (GET UP, STAND UP, NO SURRENDER, BORN IN THE U.S.A., and WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY) were also included on various CD and DVD releases benefiting Amnesty International.
The 10 Dec 1998 concert may have also been broadcast on radio, on other international TV stations, live...
