Live 19 Aug 1984 version
[Spoken intro:] Come on Gentlemen! Hold on it now! Oh yeah! Alright! Come on now! (Yeah). Are you loose? Are you loose as this? Good. Alright.
This is a song about old times. About how old do you get, the more old times you got. Now, I got my share. The big man, he's got more than me... but he wears his very well. At old times, he always looked better the ??? way they are. I was watching this "Twilight Zone" the other night, and it was about this guy who kept thinking about all the good time he had way back when... and then (plays a bit of "Outer Limits" on guitar)... then he stepped into the Twilight Zone, and he got sent back to where, where he thought he had such a good time, and everybody was treating him real bad, and it wasn't the way he remembered it and everything, so he came back to his own time. Now me, I don't have to go back into the Twilight Zone to know that in high school when everybody says you were having a great time, I was having my lousy time. I didn't like it at all. I'm still glad when fall comes around I don't have to go back. Every once in a while I go out, I'd be in some bar, and somebody will come up tell me... It was kinda like this...
See, I had this friend, he was a big baseball player back in high school
Man, he could throw that speedball by you, make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar, while I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside, sat down, had a few drinks, but all he kept talking about was
Glory days
Yeah they'll pass you by, glory days
In the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days
Glory days
Now there's this girl, well she lives up the block, and back in school she could turn all the boys' heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by and have a few drinks with her after she put her kids to bed
Well her and her husband Bobby, well they split up I guess, I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times, she says when she feels like crying, she starts laughing thinking about
Glory days
Yeah they'll pass you by, glory days
In the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days
Glory days
Alright, let's rock it now boys!
Whoa!
Think I'm going down to the well tonight and I'm gonna drink till I get my fill
Well I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it, but I probably will
Yeah just sitting back trying to recapture a little of the glory of
Well time slips away and leaves you with nothing mister but boring stories of
Glory days
Yeah they'll pass you by, glory days
In the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days
Glory days
Yeah they'll pass you by, glory days
In the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days
Glory days
Alright! (Oh yeah)
Ooh yeah! (Come on now)
Come on now!
Alight! (Alright)
Oh yeah! (Oh yeah)
Alright! (Alright)
Come on now! (Oh yeah)
Ah boys, keep goin' rockin' now
Don't ever be stoppin'
Don't let me down (alright)
At least I can hear that clock ticking away every minute in my life, everyday
It says Boss, you're 30 (whoa)
31 (whoa)
32 (whoa)
33 (whoa)
34 (whoa)
Thirty (what), thirty (what), thirty (what), thirty (what), thirty (what)
Alright! (Alright)
Oh yeah! (Oh yeah)
Alright! (Alright)
Come on now! (Oh yeah)
Alright! (Whoa)
Oh yeah! (Whoa)
Alright! (Alright)
I'll be in school now! (Yeah)
Stop that clock!
