Live 15 Oct 1988 version
Come on Nils!
Hey man!
One, two, three, four, come on Roy!
Hey!
Hey!
I get up in the evening and I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning, I go to bed feelin' the same way
I ain't nothing but tired, man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby, I could use just a little help
You can't start a fire, you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark
Come on now yeah
Message just keep getting clearer, radio's on and I'm moving 'round the place
I check my look in the mirror, I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face
Man, I ain't getting nowhere, just living in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere, baby, sugar I just know that there is
You can't start a fire, you can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark
Come on!
Come on now yeah
Yeah!
You sit around getting older, there's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake the world off my shoulders, come on baby have a laugh on me
Stay on the streets of this town and they'll be carving you up alright
You say you gotta stay hungry, baby, man I'm just about starving tonight
I'm dying for some action, I'm sick of sitting 'round here tryin' to write this book
I need a love reaction, come on now baby gimme just one look
You can't start a fire sitting 'round cryin' over a broken heart
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire worryin' about your little world fallin' apart
This gun's for hire even if we're just dancing in the dark
(Even if we're just dancing) even if we're just dancing in the dark
(Even if we're just dancing) even if we're just dancing in the dark
(Even if we're just dancing) even if we're just dancing in the dark
(Even if we're just dancing now) alright
Hey well sometimes I feel, I get feeling so lonely
That's when I wanna reach out for a little help from somebody
I'm searching, I'm searching, I'm searching for my baby
Yeah I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking for my baby
I said I'm searching, I'm searching, I'm searching for my baby
Well I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking for my baby
I said I'm searching, I'm searching, I'm searching for my baby
I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking for my baby
Come on girl
Well I'm searching, I'm searching, I'm searching for my baby
The above lyrics are for the live 15 Oct 1988 performance of DANCING IN THE DARK at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the Amnesty International Human Rights Now! Tour.
The Amnesty International Human Rights Now! Tour was a worldwide series of twenty benefit concerts on behalf of Amnesty International that took place over six weeks in September and October 1988. The concerts were held not to raise funds but to increase awareness of Amnesty International and to publicize the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration Of Human Rights (UDHR). They were billed as "A Concert For Human Rights Now!" and featured Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'dour.
The 15 Oct 1988 show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was the last date of the Amnesty International Human Rights Now! Tour. It took place at River Plate Stadium and was broadcast worldwide live on the radio. Video segments were broadcast as part of "The Human Right Now Tour" documentary which debuted on 10 Dec 1988 on HBO in the United States, WDR in West Germany, and other TV channels around the world.
The 15 Oct 1988 broadcast from Buenos Aires (Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's set) was commercially released in Europe. Since 2005 some enterprising record labels in Europe (mostly in the UK) have been releasing Bruce Springsteen radio and TV broadcasts (and some soundboard recordings) from the seventies, eighties, and nineties. Though these releases are not authorized by Bruce Springsteen or his record company, they are lawful due to a legal loophole in Europe.
