Live 12 Jul 1984 version
In a little café
On the other side of Wisconsin... [laughs]
Spread out now, Rosie, doctor come cut loose her mama's reins
You know playin' blind man's bluff is a little baby's game
You pick up Little Dynamite, well, I'm gonna pick up Little Gun
Together we're gonna go out tonight, gonna make that highway run
You don't have to call me lieutenant, and I don't want to be your son
The only lover I'm ever gonna need's your soft sweet little girl's tongue
You're the one!
Dynamite's in the belfry, babe, playin' with the bats
Little Gun's downtown in front of Woolworth's, tryin' out his attitude on all the cats
Papa's on the corner, waiting for the bus
Mama, she's home in the window, baby, waitin' up there for us
She'll be there in that chair 'til they wrestle her upstairs, 'cause you know we ain't gonna come
'Cause I ain't here on business, only here for
[Crowd:] Fun!
Yeah!
You're the one
Rosalita, jump a little lighter
Senorita, come sit by my fire
I just want to be your lover, ain't no liar
Rosie, you're my stone desire
Jack the Rabbit, Weak Knees Willie, don't you know they're gonna be there
Gonna be Sloppy Sue, Big Bones Billy, they'll be comin' up for air
And now we're gonna play some pool
[Crowd:] Skip some school, act real cool
[Crowd:] Stay out all night, it's gonna feel all right
Yeah, Rosie, come out tonight, come out tonight
Windows are for cheaters, chimneys for the poor
Closets are for hangers, winners...
Use the door! Use the door! Come on!
Rosalita, jump a little lighter
Senorita, come sit by my fire
I just want to be your lover, ain't no liar
Rosie, you're my stone desire
Oh!
[Spoken:] Ladies and gentlemen, tonight on our stage we have a huge galaxy of stars, beginning at the far left, the most intelligent member of the band, and the only member with a full high school diploma, that's, that's right, let's hear it for education and Professor Roy Bittan! And back on the vocals, from Asbury Park, New Jersey, Miss Patti Scialfa! On the drums, the man with the heat and the beat, the author of "The Big Beat", Mighty Max Weinberg! On the bass, coming up with the thunder from down under, Mr. Garry W. Tallent! On the organ, the most mysterious member of the band, he's been in the group since 1968 and he hasn't spoken more than ten words to me. All right! Phantom Dan Federici on the organ! And! The man who's brought you rock and roll for ten years on the guitar — drum roll, please — Mr. Nils Lofgren! Whoa, that's incredible! And now last but not least... That's right! Close, personal friend of mine. How can I say it? He's the King of the World, we know that. He's the Master of All Things, we know that. He's the Emperor of the Entire Universe, Known and Unknown, we know that. So all I can say is give me a C! L! A! R! E! N! C! E! What's that spell? What's that spell? What's that spell? The Big Man, Clarence Clemons on the saxophone!
Bring it up!
I know your mama, she don't like me 'cause I play in a rock and roll band
I know your pop don't dig me, he never did understand
Papa lowered the boom, locked you in your room
I'm coming to lend a hand
I want to liberate you, confiscate you, I want to be your man
Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny
Now you're sad, mama's mad
(Your papa says he knows that I don't have any money)
He says who?
(Papa says he knows that I don't have any money)
He says who?
(Papa says he knows that I don't have any money)
This is his last chance, baby, to get his daughter in a fine romance
'Cause the record company, honey, just shuttered me with a big advance!
My tires were slashed, I almost crashed, the Lord had mercy
My machine, she's a dud, out stuck in the mud somewhere in the swamps of Jersey
Hold on tight, stay up all night, Rosie, I'm comin' on strong
By the time we meet the morning light, I will hold you in my arms
I know a pretty little place in Southern California down San Diego way
A little café, they play guitars all night and all day
Hear 'em in the back room strummin'
Hold tight, girl, don't you know I'm coming
Everybody say
Whoa!
(Ohhhh!)
Whoa!
Rosalita, jump a little lighter
Senorita, come sit by my fire
I just want to be your lover, ain't no liar
Rosie, you're my stone desire
(Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!)
Are you loose?
The above lyrics are for the live 12 Jul 1984 performance of ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI, during the Born In The U.S.A. Tour. The song was played in a traditional full-band arrangement with band introductions, featuring a snippet of Jay And The Americans' COME A LITTLE BIT CLOSER as an introduction and with a "Wisconsin" twist to it.
Thanks Jake (ol'catfishinthelake at BTX and Greasy Lake) for the lyrics help.
